Master Red-Carpet Hair Styling

This intensive program provides hands-on training in professional event hairstyling, combining practical salon experience with essential technical knowledge. Students will develop their skills in our training salon, attending classes for 10 weeks (1 term) to master techniques under expert guidance. Additional practice time outside scheduled classes is recommended to perfect skills and complete assessments.

To successfully demonstrate competency, students must complete styled looks on 18 different models, covering these essential scenarios:

6x Braided hairstyles
6x Formal updos
6x Blow waves on different hair cuts

Units included:

  • SHBHDES002: Braid hair
  • SHBHDES003: Create finished hair designs
  • SHBHDES004: Create classic long hair up-styles

Please note that the Hairdressers Act of 2003 prohibits unqualified individuals from acting as Hairdressers in NSW. SA also mandates practicing Hairdressers to hold the full Cert III in Hairdressing or higher. These courses are designed as a flexible path to the full course, or to upskill in the field.
All other state have no such rule.

How can this be delivered online?

This micro-credential is designed for flexible online study, allowing you to balance learning with your schedule. Here’s how it works:

1. Practical Training Requirements

  • You’ll need access to a salon space—either a home salon setup or a commercial salon—where you can safely practice and complete assessments.

  • All practical work must be recorded via photos and timelapse videos to verify authenticity and technique.

2. Assessment Sign-Off Options

  • Your work can be signed off by an accredited hairdresser (e.g., a workplace supervisor or qualified professional).

  • Alternatively, you can submit detailed evidence (photos/videos + written reflections) for trainer review.

3. Live, Interactive Sessions

  • Join live-streamed classes where you’ll receive real-time feedback, just like on-campus students.

  • Participate in demonstrations, ask questions, and have your work assessed virtually.

4. Theory & Support

  • Access all theory materials, videos, and assessments through Pivot Point’s online platform.

  • Schedule one-on-one support sessions with trainers as needed.

Note: While online study offers flexibility, you’re responsible for arranging a suitable workspace and model clients for assessments.
