The course typically takes 12 months for full-time students, but we offer flexible study options so you can study at your own pace.
Yes! Many students work while they study, especially with our flexible online learning options. We also offer workplace placements to give you real-world experience.
For full time study, this course requires 30 – 35 hours nominal hours of study per week. This consists of 400 hours structured learning activities, including homework, assignments, assessment preparation and Pivot Point Lab activities, with additional practical activities and assessments.
Hairdressing is a practical hands-on discipline, you are required to participate in student training salon
activities and work on real fee paying clients as well as do practical exercise and minimum 300 hours of in-salon student work experience training with a commercial salon.
You will need to complete 28 units of study to gain Certificate III in Hairdressing.
We have monthly intakes with our major intakes being January, April, July and October.
Work experience provides you with exposure to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work experience is mandatory for this qualification as this is a highly practical course. There are a number of ways to get the work experience to build up your skills and confidence.
Participation in student training salons and / or undertake work experience with a suitable industry employer is a valuable option.
