About the course
Our course content selection provides you with the knowledge, attitude and skills to work in the beauty and entertainment industry as a professional makeup & hairstylist/designer. From day one you will develop a broad range of competencies, opening doors to the entertainment industry – from fashion and television to theatre or film! Even build your own bridal business, makeup artistry is a wonderful and ever-growing international business and as a TMT graduate through our quality training and industry work placement program, you’ll gain extensive experience and valuable contacts to give you the confidence to make your way in the creative world of Makeup Artistry. Be a part of our ever-growing Makeup Alumni, sharing work high lights and experiences from graduates to inspire and motivate current students.
We believe that gaining exposure to a wide range of styles and industries helps students find their niche. You will benefit from the guidance of your own personal tutor while learning about topics as diverse as High Fashion, Contemporary Bridal Makeup, and Special Effects and Prosthetics.
The course also covers Business and Marketing, including résumé skills and how to promote yourself through social media – essential skills for any modern freelancer. To help build your portfolio and document your improvement, we will photograph your work every day. There are no prerequisites for this course – just a love of makeup!

Entry Requirements
TMT accepts students who are 16 and have completed year 10 or equivalent, there is no maximum age limit. If you are an international student, you must have a minimum English language level of IELTS 5 or equivalent. International Students must be at least 18 years of age.
Applicants without completing year 12 are required to do the LLN Test [Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test], this test is used to identify any supports a student might require.
Study Requirements
For full time study, this course requires 30 – 35 hours nominal hours of study per week. This consists of attending [face to face or live online] classroom sessions, supervised practicals, structured learning activities, including homework, assignments, assessment preparation and online study. Makeup is a practical hands-on discipline, you are required to do practical exercise and work experience at home or at commercial settings.

Other Materials and Resource Costs
Students are required to purchase a personal makeup and hair kit, which they retain to use on campus and offsite during the course and after graduation. An extensive kit is available to purchase from preferred supplier Kryolan Professional Make-up at deep discount for $2000 – $3000, alternatively, you can supply your own or purchase similar items from cosmetic retailers such as Adore Beauty.

Work placement
A comprehensive work experience program forms an integral part of the course. It allows you to explore different industries and learn from Makeup Professionals who are all highly regarded in their fields. You will gain hands-on experience in your desired field while building your network for future work. The success of this program is evidenced in the high number of students who secure employment before finishing their studies.
Portfolio Development
Students will have the opportunity to participate in photo-shoots with professional photographers to develop and build their portfolios. The photo-shoots are held regularly in Melbourne and Sydney.
